Governance & Policy Committee

Function: to collaborate with Administration and make recommendations to the full School Board on the following matters:

Oversee the creation and review of policies adopted by the School Board, and ensure they are in accordance with federal and state mandates and informed by the New York State School Board Association (NYSSBA) and refer them to the board for input and approval

Recommend to the Board professional development necessary to assure the board governs at the highest level possible.

Ensure an annual self-assessment of the Board and report back to the members with recommendations.

Discuss the Board's performance and ways to strengthen both its governing and supporting role.

Set goals and annual schedules for policy review and adoption of Board Bylaws, Internal Operations, Community Relations, Administration, Non-Instructional/Business Operations, Personnel, Students, Instruction.
